The Federal Lawmaker Representing Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Elder Chidi Wihioka has declared that there were no congresses in Rivers State.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Robinson Hamilton, the lawmaker accused the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of operations Steve Hasso who aided in the harassment, unlawful arrest and detention of party faithfuls who were very concern about the Change mantra.
It added that the entire process was a failure, citing inability of the party in the state to call for a stakeholders’ meeting in the build up to the congress insisting that the congress was a mere charade calculated more at inciting the people than the pretext for an election.
“The election was a theatre of absurdities and in most cases, operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad shot sporadically, maimed party faithfuls and arrested innocent party members who are in support of Senator Magnus Abe.
“In the light of the irregularities that characterised the elections and given our strong objection to injustice, we strongly condemn the conduct of the exercise and reject it in totality.
Wihioka called on President Muhammadu Buhari who is the conscience of the party to wade immediately into the crisis and save All Progressives Congress, Rivers State chapter from the shackles of greedy politicians.
