Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has conducted a mass choir of Christian Youth Leaders Assembly(CYLA) as well as received an award of ‘Nehemiah of Abia and the Best Governor of the State since 1999’ by the organisation as it holds youth rally and grand reception in honour of the Governor.
Speaking at Ibeku High School, venue of the Grand Reception, the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu said that youth empowerment is one of the pillars of development of his administration and advised all Abia youths to identify any empowerment programme of their choice in the State and cue in to it.
He informed that the Chinese Ambassador would soon be in the State to inspect the training centre of the youth empowerment programmes in the State. Governor Ikpeazu assured that he would assist the organization in getting mobility as requested and appreciated them for honouring him.
Presenting the merit award to the Governor, the International President, Christian Youth Leaders Assembly, Pastor Jerome Imeime
stressed that reorientation of youths is their primary goal in Christian Youths Leaders Assembly, adding that the first thing a youth needs is orientation and not money.
He extolled the Governor’s giant strides in many sectors of the economy, especially in road infrastructure and sending of Abia youths to China to learn automated shoemaking. According to him, the Nigeria youths have all it takes to keep the nation united and advocated for power shift from the North to South East for equity in the national polity.
In his address earlier, the Abia State Chairman, Christian Youth Leaders Assembly, Mr. Oyara Nelson said the organization is aimed at fostering unity among Christian youths and ensuring that churches are awaken to participate effectively in the governance of the State.
He requested the Governor to assist the organization in getting three buses to be used in the three zones of the State as the organization has members in all the 184 wards in the State. The State Chairman , who also told the Governor to ensure youth empowerment is sustained in the State also assured that by the developmental strides of the Governor, his second tenure is a sure bet.
