Bodies of the corps members that drowned in Mayo Salbe, in Gashaka Local Government are set for burial.
Recall that 22 corps members got drowned in the river while swimming.
It was further gathered that out of them, 9 died while 13 were rescued by the villagers.
In a brief funeral service presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Jalingo Diocese, Bishop Charles Hammawa and the Chaplain Government House Chapel, Taraba State, Rev Emmanuel Sheka Bambur, the clergies, while urging people to make their ways right with God as no one knows when he or she will die, called on all to accept the tragedy as the will God.
Representing the Governor at event, The Special Adviser on Security, Col Wunuken Agyo conyeyed His Excellency’s deepest sympathy over the lost of the young compatriots. He condoled the families of the deceased and the NYSC family in general.
The State Coordinator, Mrs Florence Yaakugh expressed shock over the incident, hence used the opportunity to caution corps members on the need to be careful in the kind of activities they engage in while in their respective places of primary assignment. She also profoundly appreciated The Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku for the support required for preservation, conveyance of the bodies to their families.
Two of the bodies had earlier been conveyed with one still yet to be found.
