Nigeria’s former Vice President and a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has Thursday, in a tweet, frowned at the gesture of President Muhammadu Buhari for paying medical bills of a visually impaired National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, member, Okenala Ahmed, in Daura, which he said is coming “5 months to the 2019 election”.
He however commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the gesture.
Atiku explained that “if Buhari had invested the public funds he spends on his London medicals on public healthcare, he wouldn’t need to do this”.
President Buhari had on Tuesday promised to sponsor the medical treatment of the 28-year old corps member.
The visually impaired Ahmed is a graduate of Insurance from the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, and is currently serving his fatherland in Daura, Katsina State for the mandatory 1-year scheme.
