In his bid to revive the moribund Abia state Water scheme, the Abia state government in partnership with World Bank is poised to get a lasting solution in reviving the abandoned Umuahia and Aba water schemes to help enhance the availability of clean and potable water to the people of Abia state.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor, the Deputy Governor of Abia state, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu expressed the readiness of the Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu led administration in providing good and quality water to the people of Abia state which will also go a long way in helping to control some water borne diseases in the state. He thanked the World bank for identifying with the State government in solving the water problems in the state.
Handing over operational vehicles to the Commissioner for Public Utilities and Water resources Rt. Hon. Chidiebere Nwoke, the Deputy Governor encouraged the ministry to do all they can to get the water scheme back to life as soon as possible while assuring the ministry of the state government’s support towards achieving that.
Many top government functionaries were present during the hand over.
