ABUJA—AHEAD of 2019 Zamfara State gubernatorial election, Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources( Downstream), Senator Kabiru Marafa, APC, Zamfara Central, has distributed 51 cars, bags of grains and other items to party executives, loyalists and the less privileged in the state.
The items, including 2,000 bags of grains and 100,000 jerseys, were donated in Zamfara State under the aegis of Marafa Campaign Organisation. Senator Marafa is a key contender for the governorship seat of Zamfara State on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC. In a statement yesterday, Publicity Secretary of the APC in Zamfara State, Bello Soja Bakyasuwa, who noted that the items had since been distributed, said the cars include 24 Peugeot 406; 12 VW Golf; 3 Peugeot 407; 6 VW Sharon; one Murano; one Highlander and four Ford buses.
He listed the beneficiaries of the cars to include the state chairman of the APC, his Vice, three zonal vice chairmen, state secretary, youth leader, organising secretary, publicity secretary, women leader, all local government chairmen and other selected party loyalists in Zamfara State According to him, the 2,000 bags of grains were distributed to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, less privileged persons and youth organizations across the state.
For ease of transportation, a cash donation of N1,000 was attached to each of the 2,000 bags of grains to the beneficiaries to convey the item to their respective destinations. The APC spokesperson who commended the lawmaker for the gesture, said the jerseys were distributed to youth organizations in the 147 wards of the state.
