The decamping of about 500 former members All Progressive Congress (APC) and All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Amurie, Nde Oku, Obuofia and Elughu Nkporo, all in Nkporo community, Ohafia local government have signalled the death of opposition to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area in particular and Nkporo in general.
Welcoming the decampees, the deputy governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu said that by this development, Nkporo is now totally a PDP area and assured the decampees that the PDP umbrella was large enough to accommodate divergent interest and assured them that they would be carried along in the scheme of things.
He urged those yet to tear their APC and APGA membership cards to do so as to join building a strong and caring party that gives everyone the opportunity to showcase his potentials as well serve the people meritoriously.
The deputy governor urged the returnees to ensure that they worked for the total victory of PDP and guard the votes cast for the party during the elections.
Sir Oko Chukwu tasked all and sundry to ensure that peace and unity reign supreme in Nkporo and used the instruments of power to ensure that Nkporo remains peaceful.
In their separate speeches, some of the PDP stakeholders including Etiti Nkporo ward chairman, Hon Frank Agwu kalu, the SA to the governor, Hon Ogbuji Ogbuji, Prince Otuwe Irukwu and PDP State Youth leader, Barr. David Iro and a stakeholder, Mr Ujah Ndukwe Opara and SAs to deputy governor on cocoa matters, Chief Okoronkwo Ifegwu Mba, Madam Joy Nduka Uba Okpani and on internal revenue, Hon Emmanuel Okorie all commended the decampees for seeing the light and doing the needful and realising that no other party exist in the community.
In their speeches, the decampess from the three communities through former APC legal adviser in Ohafia, Barr Ude Ndukwe. Chief Mkpa Ogba and Chief Ojiagbo Ude Ojiagbo said that though PDP has always been their party, but that they decided to return because of good works Gov Ikpeazu has been doing and extolled the sterling qualities of the deputy governor and promised to join hands for the party’s success come 2019.
