A new commissioner of police, Chris Ezike ,on Monday assumed office with an assurance that the state would witness international best practices in combating crimes in the state.
Ezike who took over from Anthony Ogbizi,at a brief hand over ceremony at the command’s headquarters in Umuahia,the state capital, said that the community policing strategies of the Inspector General of police would be implemented in the state.
He said that as a community policing chief,the state would partner every stakeholder in policing the state.
Ezike who urged the people of the state to empower the command with adequate information, said that the standard method of policing was proactive approach.
He command his predecessor for ” a good job” and promised to improve on his achievements.
The police chief disclosed that the Tactical Units of command would be proactive instead of reactive, “saying that Abia is the commercial hub of the south East .
Ezike until his deployment was the CP in charge of the community policing Department,force headquarters, Abuja.
He had earlier served as the CP,Imo state command,betwen April 2017,and May 2018.
He hails from Anambra state.
