LOCAL Government Education Secretaries in Abia State have applauded the state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, for paying salary of primary school teachers in the state to date.
They gave the commendation at their inaugural monthly prayer meeting held at the Umuahia South Local Government Education Authority.
The programme was initiated to thank Governor Ikpeazu for his magnanimity to primary school teachers despite the lean resources of the state.
Speaking shortly after the prayer meeting, the leader of the body and Education Secretary of Ugwunagbo Local Government Area, Mr O. T. Augustine, said the essence of the meeting was to commit Governor Ikpeazu, the state and nation in prayers as the 2019 election draws nearer.
Also speaking, the deputy leader/dean Board of Education Secretaries, Elder Anya Okparigbo, said that this was the first time an umbrella body of education secretaries in the state had gathered together for a monthly prayer meeting of this nature.
Akparigbo noted that Governor Ikpeazu deserves their collective prayers as he had made the plight of teachers a paramount consideration.
The chief host/convener of the prayer meeting, Umuahia South Local Government Education Secretary, Comfort Ihechere, said the meeting was intended to offer prayer for the governor.
She also urged all teachers to commit the governor to God in prayers to enable him surmount all the challenges in his administration.
