The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Arochukwu LGA Chapter has given an Award of excellence to the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Dr. Mao Arukwe Ohuabunwa in recognition of his good works and his Developmental strides in the Educational sector, especially in Arochukwu and Abia North in general.
Presenting the Award during their 2018 End of the year party at Arochukwu, the Chairman of NUT in Arochukwu LGA, Comr. Okoronkwo Amaobi described Senator Mao Ohuabunwa as a great Achiver and a Pathfinder whom his doggedness in the Development of Education in Arochukwu LGA is magnificent and commendable especially in putting efforts to see that Abia State College of Education (Technical) Arochukwu becomes a Federal institution.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Mazi Kelechi Kanu also described Senator Mao as a Worthy and patriotic son of Arochukwu LGA whom his existence as a Senator has brought Development and progress in all parts of Arochukwu LGA especially in the areas of construction and reconstruction of roads, construction and reconstruction of schools, healthcare centers etc he therefore asked the people to keep on supporting the Senator for more good things to come.
Responding, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa described Teachers as Nation builders and that he is a Senator today because of the efforts and sacrifices of Teachers, he thanked them for the Award and dedicated it to God Almighty and the good people of Abia North Senatorial District.
Highlights of the event was the distribution of exercise books to students and Scholarships that was given to some Students by Senator Mao Ohuabunwa.
The event was also attended by Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, the State Assistant Secretary of PDP, Abia State, Chief J. J. Okoro, the Chairman of PDP in Arochukwu LGA, Hon. Anthony Nwankwo, the President/ Founder of PEAK Foundation and the PDP house of Assembly candidate for Arochukwu State Constituency, Prince Eric Aso Kalu, Mazi Kelechi Kanu ( Mayor) the Former Education Secretary of Arochukwu LGA, Sir U. C Elekwa and other notable Dignitaries.
