The federal high court, in Abuja, has dismissed a suit filed by Achinike William-Wobodo, an aide of the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, asking the court to disqualify Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike from contesting the 2019 governorship election on account of age declaration.

In an oral application made by Wobodo he asked the court to strike out the matter following his intension to discontinue the matter after counsels for governor Wike challenged the jurisdiction of the court to hear the suit.
Justice Ekwo therefore struck out the matter and awarded a cost of N50,000 in favour of Wike.
Governor Wike was duly nominated as standard-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Rivers state in the 2019 general election at a governorship primary on September 30, 2018
Unhappy with the development, a Rivers APC faction loyal to minister of transportation, led by Achinike William-Wobodo approached the federal high court, Abuja to seek the disqualification of Governor Wike from seeking re-election on account of allegation of age falsification.
