An Investigation by PUO REPORTS has revealed that the Member Representing Aba North State Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly and 2019 Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party for the March 9th Governorship election in Abia State Dame Blessing Nwagba demanded to be made the running mate of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu before she can step down.
Seventeen Social Democratic Party (SDP) local government areas chairmen in Abia state had on Tesday March 5th 2019 endorsed the candidature of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Dr Okezie IKpeazu for Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Speaking Tuesday in Umuahia, the Isiala Ngwa North SDP chairman, Hon Chijioke Ozems, explained that the chairmen took the decision in line with previous adoptions including the adoption of the re-election Of President Muhammadu Buhari and others.
Ozems said the adoption would give the incumbent governor, who is from Abia South, the opportunity of completing the zone’s second tenure, which was equally enjoyed by two other senatorial districts.
He said ongoing meeting between the APC and APGA governorship candidates who are both from Abia North on the plot to wrest power from the incumbent governor was inimical to the zoning arrangement adding it was the reason the SDP council chairmen resolved to support Governor Ikpeazu.
Also, Ozems said since the party’s governorship candidate does not have the capacity to win the forthcoming governorship election and since she too is from Abia South, it is better she step down for her brother governor to retain power for equity.
Although , the state SDP chairman, Sir Chidi Nwosu, and the Party’s Governorship Candidate Dr Mrs Blessing Nwagba dismissed the claims and said that the party is not aware of such adoption.
But Investigations by PUO REPORTS revealed that the Governorship Candidate of the SDP in Abia Dame Blessing Nwagba was part of the initial discussions with the Leadership of her Party but demanded to be made the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the PDP in Replacement of the current Deputy Governor Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu.
A Source privy to the development told PUO Reports on the condition of strict anonymity that her request was not a good one as Abia cannot have a Governor and his Deputy from the Same Senatorial District of Abia South.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu hails from Umuobiakwa in Obingwa Local Government Area whike the SDP Governorship Candidate hails from Aba in Aba North Local Government Area all in Abia South Senatorial District.

Meanwhile Members of the Party in Abia State led by their 17 Local Government Area Chairmen on Wednesday reiterated call on her to Step Down and back her brother Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.
