EMEKA IHEDIOHA’S THUGS GO ON RAMPAGE, DESTROY BILLBOARDS, THREATEN UGWUMBA UCHE NWOSU’S SUPPORTERS
UGWUMBA UCHE NWOSU URGES SUPPORTERS NOT TO RETALIATE ANY ACT OF PROVOCATION
His Excellency Ugwumba Uche Nwosu has admonished his supporters not to allow themselves to indulge in any action capable of disturbing the peace in the State. This admonition is coming on the heels of provocative actions and utterances by some hooligans who claim to be working for Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha. Some of these hooligans had gone on rampage yesterday night, destroying campaign billboards of our candidate, who is the actual winner of the governorship election in the State.
Addressing hundreds of his supporters who besieged his campaign headquarters along Okigwe Road, Owerri, Owerri earlier today in a show of solidarity, the AA governorship candidate, thanked his supporters for the show of solidarity and urged them to remain law-abiding and peaceful, no matter the extent of provocation from those who do not wish the State well;
“I have always drawn my strength and confidence from you all, my dear supporters and friends. I want to assure you that our mandate shall be recovered and our dream for Imo is still on track.”
“I have received reports that some hooligans had gone into town destroying our billboards and making all manner of inciting statements against us. Please, do not respond to them. Leave them and as much as possible, be at peace with all. Those who have started with destruction obviously do not love Imo State and are coming to destroy, but we have always believed in building Imo and we shall continue to do that. Do not join them in destroying billboards, because you are not like them.”
His Excellency also calls on the law enforcement agencies to ensure that those who take laws into their hands are brought to justice, arguing that Imo cannot suddenly descend into a state of lawlessness and hooliganism, just because someone was erroneously declared winner of an election, he didn’t win.
It is imperative to note that less than twenty four hours after his erroneous declaration as governor-elect, Chief Emeka Ihedioha has given a clear indication that he is power drunk, vindictive, destructive and intolerant, as he sent out his ‘dogs’ to maim and destroy the properties and even threaten the lives of those who do not support his political ambition. Ihedioha may need to be reminded that His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha has been the governor of Imo State for close to eight years, with no record of intimidation or victimization of opponents.
