The management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has shut down electricity supply to the ancient city of Ilesa and its environs over alleged assault on its staff on Thursday, March 14, 2019.
The Regional Public Relations Officer of company in Osun State, Miss Kikelomo Owoeye had boasted in a press interview that the entire community would remain disconnected until the community produce the perpetrators of the dastard attack on the staff of the company.
The problem started when the youths in Olomilagbala and Bolorunduro area of Ilesa in Ilesa East Local Government protested to the Ilesa business office of the IBEDC over crazy billl and irregular supply of electricity to the areas for over six months .
On Monday, concerned Ijesa youth took to the streets to revolt after surviving three days of total blackout. They demanded that the management of IBEDC should rescind her decision to keep Ijesaland in total darkness.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), llesa has taken up the matter by instituting a case against management of IBEDC over unlawful act of shutting down electricity in ljesaland for three days.
The matter came up for hearing on Monday at exactly 11.36am before His Lordship Hon. Justice Adegoke.
In an exparte application before the court, the Bar prayed for an order to serve the court processes on the management of IBEDC in lbadan and same was granted.
Consequent upon the first order, the Bar also filed another exparte application praying the court to order the IBEDC to restore electricity to ljesaland with immediate alacrity. The relief sought was also granted immediately.

However, inability to find immediate solution to the incident has led to the restriction of movement of persons and vehicles in Bolorunduro, Olomilagbala, Wesley /Ijofi, Itabalogun, Roundabout and Otapete. While the men of the Nigeria Police are keeping watch on offices of IBEDC in Ilesa, to protect lives and property.
