The 2019 Governorship election in Imo state was a test case for power play between Governor Rochas Okorocha as (Goliath) and his Deputy, Prince Eze Madumere as (David). The exercise confirmed the saying that those who talk much have little or no power coordination to make an enroll.
From the onset, every Dick and Harry had concluded that Governor Okorocha was cruising to victory after reversing an already summed up party congress withing APC.
Just as the Bible made me to understand that “surely they shall gather but anyone that gathers against you shall fall for thy sake”, this is indeed the summary of Governor Okorocha’s jigims.
The lesson of 2019 election in Imo state shows that no one makes his or herself god when the true God has said nothing. Why Okorocha’s failure does not hinder anyone’s sleep is because everyone prayed that he and his cronies be booted out from the state seat of power.
As a personal Chief Strategist, Chief of Staff and Master Planner to Chief Ethelbert Okorocha prior to his emergence as Governor, he coordinated all plannings that earned the Ideato born Governor victory on all sides, one will stop at nothing but to wonder why Okorocha should treat him with kid glove.
Physically, Eze Madumere appears quiet and homely, but his disposition summarizes the saying that the slow movement of a cat is not a sign of cowardice but a calculated attempt for serious heat.
Retrospectively, I told a friend during our personal discussion that for Governor Okorocha to have directed his Press Secretary, Mazi Sam Onwuemeodo to issue a release that Madumere lack political value and went ahead to publish on national daily, the Ideato South born Governor should expect political doom from his Deputy, the fulfillment of my reply to my friend is what Okorocha is facing today.
Eze Madumere had come out for Governorship of the state with a slogan said to have carried the inner mind of God, “Journey of Grace”, some individuals ignored it while some saw it as a “frustrated coinage from a defeated Deputy”, but to me, I look at it as what God was saying.
Believe it or live it, if Eze Madumere had not boldly engaged his erstwhile friend, Governor Okorocha in a public fight when it was necessary, no one would have known his political strength and sagacity as hitherto, he was called, addressed and referred to as a political weakler, correct me if am wrong.
The 2019 Governorship election and the HOT BLOW Madumere gave to his estranged friend was truly instrumental to the victory of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
Could you imagine if Madumere had selfishly accepted to run for Owerri zone Senate as freely and handsomely handed to him by Governor Okorocha with the aim of paving way for his son-in-law’s easy ride to Douglas House, the irony of today’s victory song in Imo state would have been the anguish of the emergence of Uche Nwosu as Governor.
Remember that if Madumere had called it a short to be hoodwinked by the rhetorical razzmatazz of Governor Okorocha’s promise to him for a senatorial ticket, there wouldn’t have been anything like APC Coalition otherwise known as “Allied Forces”.
Summarily, the decision of Eze Madumere to challenge Okorocha’s self imposition of his son-in-law on Imo people, attracted like minds like Senator Hope Uzodinma, Jude Ejiogu, TOE Ekechi, Senator Osita Izunaso and Senator Ifeanyi Ararume into forming a block that ousted his plans to hijack the state.
The actions and prominent roles of Eze Madumere during Governor Okorocha’s hijacking imbroglio has added feathers to his political credibility, that is why I have chosen to call him, ” the political orography of a new Imo” believe it or live it!
