Dear sir,

I’m pleased to write this letter addressed to your person as I have taken it upon myself to intimate you about the bad shapes of some of our lecture halls and halls of residence on UDUS campus, since you will be bowing out of your honourable office soon. Before then, let me congratulate you and your cabinet for your achievements so far and in particular, the projects commissioned during the just concluded 35th, 36th and 37th convocation ceremony — it’s indeed a great achievement.

Sir, I want to draw your attention to some of our disfigured lecture halls, which are debasing the teaching and learning standard of our great institution. Most of the halls do not have enough ventilation to give a wide breathing space to both lecturers and students.

Sir, some of our lecture halls are no more good for learning — the ceiling fans are not in good condition, the chairs have long ago been broken. In Multipurpose Hall 1 (MH 1) for instance, about seventy ceiling fans are decaying; only seven of them (or thereabout) are manageably working; some chairs have been left broken for long without repair. The same is applicable to some other lecture halls like New Lecture Hall (NLH), Standard Trust Bank hall (STB), Exam hall, A classes, ETFs and etc.

Sir, may I remind you that during the pre-convocation press briefing, issue of hall of residence was brought to your notice. It was said that all fans in each rooms were removed for security reasons during the holiday/strike and, till now, only few of them have been restored.

Sir, let me say again that in the next few weeks, you will be bowing out of office; I am glad to tell you that many students wishe you could continue as the vice chancellor of the school. This is really due to your good relationship with students as a good father.

Sir, I want to appeal to you on behalf of thousands of students to help look into the above mentioned problems before you finally vacate office.

I do, with all sense of humility, recommend that you should personally pay visits to all these halls to see their condition.

Sir, you have proved to all ‘Danfodites’ that you are truly a father who has in mind the love of his children. ‘Sai Baba’!

Thank you in advance.

Ibrahim Yasir,
Campus Journalist.
