Communique By Abia State PDP SWC And 2019 House of Assembly Members-Elect.
The State Working Committee of Peoples Democratic Party, Abia State Chapter and Members-elect of 7th Abia State House of Assembly met today; Thursday 25th April, 2019 at the Party’s State Secretariat, at Umuahia and after an exhaustive deliberation, came up with the following Communique;
(1) That the State Working Committee of PDP in the State is thankful to God Almighty and grateful to the Abia electorate for the transparent overwhelming electoral success the Party recorded in the recently-concluded general election in the State,
(2) That the SWC heartily congratulates the nineteen Members-elect that won election to the 7th Abia State House of Assembly on its platform,
(3) That SWC is optimistic that candidates of the Party in the March 9th House of Assembly election who have good cases in the Election Tribunal will certainly retrieve their mandate and, therefore, increase the Party’s numerical strength in the 24-Member State House of Assembly,
(4) That SWC admonishes all Members of PDP in the State to stand transparently firmly with all her candidates involved in one way or another in the Election Tribunal,
(5) That SWC condemns in its entirety current attacks by hired agents of some members-elect against some others over Speakership of the yet to be inaugurated 7th House of Assembly on Social Media which is not in the best interest of the Party,
(6) That SWC, hereby, instructs that henceforth any Member-elect who is found to be sponsoring any hostile and(or) damaging post(s) on Social Media or any other medium, shall be disciplined accordingly,
(7) That any Member-elect that is interested in any position in the 7th Abia State House of Assembly is free to go about his aspiration but without creating any image problem for the Party by being unduly quarrelsome, especially using the Social Media,
(8) That the posts of Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader and other Principal Offices in the 7th Abia House of Assembly are positions accruable to the Party and the Party, with due consultations with the Governor and Leader of the Party in the State; Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D, will advise, at the appropriate time, on the distribution of the aforementioned positions, based on competence and equity,
(9) That PDP Members of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly will have close rapport with PDP in the State and
(10) That at all times, PDP Members in 7th Abia State House of Assembly shall give maximum legislative co-operation to Governor Ikpeazu’s PDP administration.
Members-elect that attended the well- publicised meeting were; (1) Rt Hon Bishop Njoku ( Osisioma-Ngwa North) (2) Hon Paul Taribo ( Ukwa-East), (3) Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu ( Ohafia-South) (4) Hon Mandela Obasi (Ohafia-North), (5) Chief Jerry Uzosike (Umuahia-South), (6) Chief Aron(Aba-North)
(7) Chief Ginger Onwusoibe (Isialangwa-North), (8) Mr Goddy Adiele(Ukwa-West), (9) Mr Allen Nwachukwu (Osisioma-Ngwa South) and (10) Chief Emmanuel Ndubuisi (Bende-South).
Members-elect who could not attend the meeting but respectfully sent their apologies were; (1) Hon Chinedum Orji (Umuahia-Central), (2) Hon Chukwudi Apugo (Umuahia-East) and (3) Hon Kelechi Onuzuruike (Umuahia-North).
In addition to the State Chairman of the Party who presided over the meeting; Sir Johnson Onuigbo, other members of the SWC that were present in the meeting were; (1) the State Secretary, Chief Ibe Nwadioha, (2) Vice Chairman Abia-Central, Chief Obinna Nwachukwu, (3) Vice Chairman Abia-North, Engr Mathew Ibe, (4) State Treasurer, Dr Chino Uwadinjo, (5) the State Legal Adviser, Barr Ikechukwu Omenihu, (6) the State Organizing-Secretary, Barr St Moses Ogbonna, (7) the State Auditor, Prince Ezekwesiri Ananaba, (8) the State Youth Leader, Barr David Iro and (9) the State Publicity Secretary, Sir Don Ubani.
Two members of the SWC; Vice Chairman Abia-South, Chief David Chigbu and State Financial Secretary, Engr Chukwudi Benson, had earlier notified it of their inability to attend the meeting.
