A chieftain of Abia APC and the National Coordinator, COALITION OF SOUTH EAST YOUTHS FOR BUHARI(COSYB) Hon. Demian Igbokwe has frowned at the choice of word used by the party State chapter, after a meeting held last Sunday in the Igbere home of the Senator-elect Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, and a communique was issued.
The party leaders had met and released a communique after a crucial meeting, stating that the Abia Chapter of the APC has endorsed Senator-elect Orji Uzor Kalu and Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejiocha for the principal office in the 9th Assembly.
While Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, who once threatened to disobey the party position in the 9th Assembly by talking about how he can shop and lobby more than every other candidate for the Senate President position if not allowed to take the Deputy position, is jostling for the position of the Deputy Senate President of the 9th Assembly, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha is aiming to become Speaker of the House of Representatives as against the party presumed choice of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
In a brief conversation with Hon. Igbokwe, he said, “It makes no sense, to talk about a chapter endorsing their Senator-elect or Rep member for a principal office in the 9th Assembly!”
“I am of the opinion that every business of the legislative arm of the government is strictly handled by the elected members and on its floor”
He Said “I find it rhetoric for a chapter to use the word, “We are endorsing” our Senator-elect and House of Representative member for the principal office in the 9th Assembly.
“My assertion is drawn from the fact that most of the APC chapter leaders and members who made that endorsement will have nothing to contribute in what will make or mar the 9th Assembly leadership positions! It’s needless arrogating such positions or powers to ourselves.”
“You can’t participate in the process of choosing who stand for what in the National or State Assembly when you are not an elected member of the National Or State Assembly!”
“Our Sons and daughter that were elected on the platform of our great party from South East, should do the needful, which is shopping/lobbying for support of other of their colleagues. They floor is open for that once they feel the zoning arrangement isn’t favorable to them”
“I advise that the Abia APC and other chapters using such words in public fora as communique reached after their meetings, should save us from being viewed as unserious people” He Said
