The Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu,said his attention has been drawn to radio announcements on the inauguration of caretaker committees for some markets and market association in the state, particularly ASMATA, Ariaria International Market, Ekeoha Shopping Centre, Ngwa Road market, Cemetry/Eziukwu Road market, Ochendo Shoe & Bag market and Ubani Ibeku Ultra-Modern Market.
In a Press Statement on Tuesday and signed by his Chief Press Secretary Mr Enyinnaya Appolos,the Governor urged Members of the Public to disregard such purported announcement.
“We wish to inform members of the public that the Governor has not approved any new committee or board for any market in the state”
“Kindly disregard the purported new committees/boards as announced”
“All members of dissolved boards and committees should hand over government properties in their care to the Chief Security Officer of the relevant markets” the Statement Concluded.
