Ahead of the Valedictory Session of the IMO State House of Assembly Billed to hold on Monday 10th June 2019 at the House of Assembly Complex in Owerri,the Governor of IMO State Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha is mounting much Pressure on the Members of the 8th Assembly to repeal the High-Ranking Member Rule passed by the House of Assembly.
Currently,Imo State House of Assembly like other houses of Assembly including the National Assembly operate ranking rule which stipulates that only High Ranking and Returning Lawmakers can contest for Offices of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
Rt.Hon. Emeka Ihedioha,the executive governor of Imo State as member of National Assembly benefitted from the house rule leading to his emergence as Deputy speaker of House of Representatives in 2011.
Presently,the PDP led Administration is working tirelessly to ensure the house rule is repealed.
Investigation by PUO REPORTS revealed that the Ihedioha Led Administration which is barely One Month in Office is using a non returning member of the House of Assembly Representing Ahiazu Mbaise,Hon Ken Agbim who has been assured of commissionership position should he carry out this and other hatchet jobs for the new administration on Monday.
Agbim had yesterday threatened his colleagues that the PDP led regime wont pay severance allowance to any member who refuses to sign the Resolution.The severance allowance owed the lawmakers which ex-Governor Rochas Okorocha did not pay the Lawmakers amounted to #4.2Million.
Already,18 out of 27 lawmakers have signed the embarrassing resolution which is expected to be passed into law by tomorrow when the 8th Assembly will be organizing their Valedictory Session to mark the end of the Legislative Year.
Beyond denial of the severance allowance,the ranking lawmakers are also being threatened that their stay will be frustrating should they refuse to append their signature.
Among those who have already signed include all the lawmakers from Owerri zone,Hon Uche Agabiga,member for Orsu;Hon Athur Agwim for Ideato North;Hon marcel Odunze and others,all of whom are from Orlu zone.
According to an insider source,when the rule is repealed,an Owerri man will be made deputy speaker while leaving Orlu zone out of the contest.
It will be recalled that the Ihedioha’s Led Administration barely 24hours After Inauguration on May 29 2019 began Destroying some of the People Oriented Projects Executive by his Predecessor Rochas Okorocha.
