The Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal has adjourned till Thursday 20th June to deliver ruling on who to be the rightful legal representative of the African Action Congress(AAC).
Chairman of the three man panel of the Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal, Justice O. K. Kaigama gave the date for the ruling after hearing affidavit and counter affidavit filed by legal representative of the African Action Congress(AAC), Henry Bello and the legal representative of the AAC Governorship Candidate, Taiwo Taiwo.
Speaking during the Tribunal sitting legal representative of the African Action Congress(AAC) in his submission argued that his approval to take over as the legal representative of the party followed Order 9, Rule 35(1) Federal High Court (Civil procedure) Rules 2019.
He also cited paragraph 54 of the electoral act as amended of the constitution that empowers any political party to change a legal.
He said the party had filed a notice of change of legal counsel on the 23rd of May 2019 for the replacement of Mr. Taiwo Taiwo(SAN) as 2nd petitioner of the African Action Congress(AAC).
He further urged the Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal to discountenance any legal representation by Mr. Taiwa Taiwo as he remains the rightful legal representative of AAC.
On his part the legal representative of the AAC Governorship Candidate, Taiwo Taiwo said Henry Bello does not have the locus standing to defend the party.
