Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha has charged security agencies to fish out the hoodlums who set the Headquarters ablaze and made away with arms and ammunitions. The officer who provoked the incident must also be brought to book.
He made this known at Obowo when he Visited the Divisional Police Headquarters set ablaze by irate youths of the area who had a misunderstanding with a police officer leading to the death of a young man, Ikenna Ukachi.
Ihedioha said, Under no circumstances should a police officer who is supposed to safe guard the lives of the citizenry kill. The job of the police force is to protect the community and maintain peace and order. We must respect the sanctity of human life.
“To the youths, I maintain that breaking into police strong room is a criminal offence and the culprits must be identitied and charged, he added.
“I sympathize with the family of Ikenna Ukachi, while assuring them that the State Government will stand solidly with them in this trying period by ensuring that this incident is investigated and resolved.”
