Zamfara State Executive Governor, Hon Dr Bello Matawalle Mohammed ( Matawallen Maradun) has again received 11 people who were kidnapped for over two months now.
The released persons include 5 men, 3 Women and 3 children and they were released through Kaura Namoda and Shinkafi local Government areas of the State.
Receiving the kidnap victims at Government House, Governor Matawalle expressed optimism in the peace process recently initiated by his administration in yielding positive results and ending security challenges facing the state.
He also called on the repentant bandits to ensure the release of all the remaining captives under their custody so that they can be reunited with their families and free from any bondage.
He also applauded the effort of the Security agencies in the state especially the police for their dedication and quick response to all distress calls.
He expressed happiness that in the past three days, he has not received any report of kidnapping, Cattle rustling or bandits attack in any part of the state unlike in the past when such reports came several times in a day.
Governor Matawalle also urged the Police Commissioner to continue to discharge his constitutional responsibility diligently in order to rid the state of all criminal elements within shortest possible time.
He assured of his government’s continued support and cooperation to all the security agencies in the state.
Earlier in his address the Police Commissioner, Mr. Usman Nagoggo informed the Governor that he will continue to pursue the peace process initiated by the governor in order to end banditry activities in the state.
He said most of the released people have been under captivity for more than two months before their release and that they were kidnapped from Shinkafi, Jangeru area of Shinkafi local government and Aljmma Fulani area of Maradun local government while one Abubakar Halliru, an indigene of Gwaranyo local government area of Sokoto State was also saved in the process.
The Governor then directed the Government House Clinic to take care of the medical needs of the victims and ensure that they are steady before they can be reunited with their relations.
