Equating IPOB Thugs To The Entire Igbo Race Is As Foolish As The Attack On Ekweremadu By Chinonso Chikezie

Already well-meaning people from across the world have condemned the infantile attack on Senator Ike Ekweremadu by IPOB thugs. However, to say that the attack on Ekweremadu by less than 20 misguided IPOB THUGS represents the entirety of Igbos is foolish and very misguided, if not outrightly mischievous.

All through the elections, starting from Anambra Governorship Election, IPOB advised people not to vote. But voting took place and winners declared across Igbo states. This tells you that the percentage of the members of the group cannot stop social, economic and political process.

All through the South-East, the people wholeheartedly voted. Buhari and APC lost because Igbo people spoke out against marginalisation by the APC Federal Government.

Some of these misguided ANTI-Igbo elements wondered why IPOB couldn’t stone President Muhammadu Buhari? Was it IPOB THAT STONED JONATHAN AHEAD OF THE 2015 GENERAL ELECTIONS?

Another point to be noted, all PRESIDENTIAL RALLIES and GOVERNORSHIP RALLIES, of all political parties are well guarded by NIGERIAN ARMY, POLICE, DSS, CIVIL DEFENCE, SARS, AIR FORCE AND EVEN NAVY. There are no spaces for miscreants to reach the venue. Even if they do, they will die in their hundreds. Ask the SHIITES OF KADUNA.

The Ipob thugs attack on Ekweremadu is an Eye-opener to other organisers of similar events in foreign countries. From the very beginning, security would be provided to prevent thugs from accessing venues where decent people meet. Remember, EKWEREMADU was to be a GUEST SPEAKER AT A CULTURAL EVENT. He was duly invited to speak. Unless these jokers say no leader can address people in a country other than his home country.

It is such Arrangements that stop ANTI-TRUMP protesters from disrupting his visits to different parts of Europe.

IPOB must pursue her goals within the confines of the law.

For those who use every opportunity to display their dislike for IGBOS, there is fundamentally nothing you can do about the existence and prosperity of IGBOS. You can only gnash your teeth and celebrate when a GROUP LIKE IPOB Misbehaves. Beyond that, you will only witness Igbos progress in all countries and cities of the world, as they engage in their legitimate political, social and economic activities.

“Egbe bere Ugo bere, nke si ibeya ebele, nku kwa ya”. This means let the Hawk perch and let the Eagle perch. The one that says the other shouldn’t perch, should have a broken wing. In other words, jealousy or unnecessary hatred shouldn’t becloud our sense of reasoning. Those with Anti-Igbo sentiments should perch and let the Igbos also perch, despite their Republican attitude.

Those always insulting and attacking Igbos ought to have realised by now that they can never win.

Imagine for one minute if it was the Igbos that are the herdsmen or bandits troubling South-west , South-east and the entire north. The bombs would have been rolling everywhere. Imagine if the Igbos were the kidpins of Oil Bunkering and mass oil theft in the Niger Delta, the Navy would have been at their best. What of the unbridled kidnapping in the entire NORTH WEST? If it was perpetrated by the Igbos, there would have been serious efforts to tackle.

The Igbos are not the problem of NIGERIA. No Igbo man/woman has been head of Government since 1967. The only Igbo man who was ever head of Government lasted less than 7 months. If you talk about MONUMENTAL THIEVERY IN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, THE IGBOS HAVE NO REPRESENTATIVE. EVEN THERE, THEY ARE MARGINALISED.

As we condemn the rascally behaviour of the misguided IPOB THUGS, we must properly situate it. IPOB IS A GROUP WITH NON IGBO MEMBERS AS WELL. Therefore, IPOB’s actions cannot be used to judge all Igbos.

Apart from IPOB, there are other groups agitating for Biafra. There is the Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra, the Biafra National Council, the Biafra Renaissance and many others. Their agitations are LEGITIMATE. But they must respect the right of others to agree on the mode of struggle or otherwise.
