… Promise to appoint Widows, Farmers and others as Liaison Officers, TAs, Management Committee members etc.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi has once again scored high point as Ebonyians jubilate on their inclusiveness on the decision making of who become who in the state.

Recall that the Governor in his wisdom few months ago introduced a first of it kind style of appointment in Nigeria where interested persons are allowed to apply for any position of their choice, and the stakeholders from their locality will screen and select the best among the applicants for the Job.

So far, the 64 DC Coordinators have been appointed through the stakeholders’ recommendation process and just few days ago, two sets of EAs, STAs and TAs numbering about 400 were appointed.

In his quest to provide dividends of democracy for Ebonyians by raising several persons from poverty, Governor Umahi has directed that another 513 Ebonyians be appointed as TAs ie. 3 persons in each of the 171 electoral wards in the state of which one of the 3 must be a widow. The above appointments are to be made through the recommendation of stakeholders from each of the wards and submitted through the Chairman of the National Vice Chairman of PDP, South East, Chief Austine Umahi who is the chairman of the committee and the Ebonyi State PDP Vice Chairman as the Secretary. He also directed that two Liaison Officers be appointed in each of the 171 electoral wards through the same process as stated above and one of the Liaison officers must equally be a widow bringing the total number of widows to be appointed at 342.

The Governor, however, placed a ban on any form of lobbying around him or his office, making it clear that he is serving the people and not himself and as such, the interest of the people is of his total concern.

He called on all the stakeholders to start sending their nominees through the channel as stated above with immediate effect.
