We the South East In Diaspora Forum For Igbo Progress, hereby condemn in all its entirety and totality the comments emanating from the interview of Chief BB APUGO on the 27th of February 2020 on the Person of The Hon Minister of State Mines and Steel Development Dr Uche Ogah who is an illustrious son of Abia state, and an Igbo son whom we are proud of..
When will Igbos start rallying around their own putting first the interest of our people and the Igbo nation? here we are lamenting everyday of marginalization from our country Nigeria, and here you have an elder statesman who’s claiming to be the Ruling Party APCs Board of Trustee Member bringing its own down with lies and having no regard for loyalty to the party he claims to be a strong part of?
Isn’t it possible that these bitter comments and reactions from Chief B.B.Apugo on the person of Dr Uche Ogah is coming from a place of loyalty and gratitude to the former Governor of Abia state Dr Orji Uzor Kalu who is presently paying his dues in Kuje prison for milking Abia state dry and setting it on its continuous path of destruction? We all know the bond and tie between OUK and BB APUGO, It all dates back to the days of B. B APUGOs criminality, territorial terrorism, banditry, land grabbing and harassment of Abia indigenes and his immediate clan, days where he held sway as the principality and Small god who does anything and gets away with it. Under normal circumstances and conditions our Apugo should be paying for his sins against humanity, but hopefully OUK is doing that for them both because instead of Orji Uzor Kalu arresting and prosecuting Apugo, he gave him amnesty, baptized and absorbed him of his criminality and enthroned him leader in Abia state at the time, he became a new lord of the state with a more daring boldness and brazenness, having the backing and support of a governor he could do anything he wanted, he needed not to hide anymore, more lands were confiscated, more attrocities committed, even husbands lost their wives to this brand new old criminal who was now being protected by OUK as a leader.
The story of BB APUGO can be told by anyone, politics for him isn’t about the improvement of the people and development of the state,it’s about enriching himself and funding his lifestyle.
The reason for the South East in Diaspora forum for Igbo Progress touching on this story is not because we want to remind BB APUGO of the past, it’s because we believe strongly that his comments and lies on Ogah came more through anger, pain, animosity, bitterness and resentment. It is frustrating to him that his ally, baptizer, benefactor and partner Dr Orji Uzor Kalu is in prison and Dr Uche Ogah is fast becoming the leader, the true leader Abia has prayed for.
We have nothing personal against Chief Apugo, but we have everything against his posture in a time where the Igbos are struggling to find a space of relevance in Nigeria and instead of backing up, encouraging our own who’s managed to get the spot,he is running him down to destroy him out of malice, vendetta and possible envy.
For us as a forum,as ndi Igbo, looking at this interview of Chief Apugo, we conclude that BB APUGO isn’t loyal to APC, TO ABIA STATE OR THE PRESIDENT or to even anything at all ,his allegiance of commitment and loyalty is to himself and to anything that serves his personal interest and anyone that enriches and feeds his ego,and so his frustrating comments on Uche Ogah should be ignored. Igbos should learn to support their own and build them up.
This forum will not spare any Igbo son or daughter who instead of working to progress the Igbos is striving out of their own self interest to destroy what we are building. On this light, The South East In Diaspora Forum For Igbo Progress is hereby asking Chief B.B APUGO to retract his comments and apologize to Dr Uche Ogah…and that is the right thing to do and the way forward. Elders dont lie but Chief Apugo did and that doesn’t in any way reflect a true Igbo elder.
