The Lagos State Government has vowed to apprehend hoodlums who attacked Town Planning Officers on enforcement exercise in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area, stressing that under no pretext should anyone attack State Government Officials while performing their statutory duties.
The Honourable Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako disclosed this, on Tuesday, during an enforcement exercise to reseal Revonia Oil and Gas in Ifako after the initial government enforcement seal was broken and officers were attacked for demanding the planning permit of the outfit.
Salako explained that “In spite of our revisit to the oil and gas premises, the company was still unable to produce the enabling Planning Permit and was thereby resealed with a promise to sanction the management of the outfit and prosecute the perpetrators of the dastardly act”.
“We have said repeatedly that breaking of enforcement seal is a serious infraction of the law which government will not tolerate. We are determined to penalise all acts of violence against Officers of the State”, he said.
Similarly, the Commissioner revealed that a building under renovation on Fagba Road was sealed for not obtaining a Renovation Permit, urging residents to respect the Physical Planning Laws of Lagos State, refrain from erecting buildings without Planning Permits and ensure structures are built to guideline specification to achieve an organised, orderly, livable and sustainable physical environment.
The Commissioner was accompanied by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Urban Development, Mr. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba; the General Manager Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA], Tpl. Funmi Osifuye and other top functionaries of the Ministry.
