The Department of State Service (DSS) is currently interrogating the leadership of Cattle and Food items dealers under the aegis of Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria (AUFCDN) over the recent hike in the price of food and beef in the Southern part of the country.

Recall that the union had earlier embarked on an indefinite strike to protest the alleged maltreatment of Fulanis and other Northerners in the South.

The invitation by the DSS was disclosed by the General Secretary of the AUFCDN, Ahmed Alaramma, during a press briefing at the Labour House, Abuja, on Monday.

He revealed that the President of the Association, Mohammed Tahir, is presently at the DSS office.

Alaramma who alleged that some military personnel were intimidating the union over the strike it embarked upon, also urged the Federal Government to address the issues.

Recalls that the coordinator of the Kwara State chapter of Miyetti Allah Association of Cattle Breeders, Aliyu Mohammed, had insisted that the ban on movement of food items to the South through Kwara State will continue until the safety of Fulanis is guaranteed in the region.

He had disclosed the unions resolve to newsmen on Sunday after the association’s meeting in Ilorin.
