On Wednesday, the Chairman, Osun State Governing Board of Amotekun, Brig-Gen Isa Aderibigbe says the number of Police officers in Nigeria is not enough to secure the entire country.

Aderibigbe stated this during the maiden edition of the Osun Union of Journalists platform in Osogbo.

The theme of the programme; “Appraisal of State of Security in Nigeria, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow; The Way Forward.”

Aderibigbe said, “300,000 policemen are not enough for the population of over 200 million people, insisting that more police personnel be hired and trained to boost the country’s security network.”

He added that more security agencies be assigned to land borders and adequately equipped to fight insecurity in the state.

“The local government should also be given autonomy, as the local government Chairman is the governor of the people at the grassroots level.

“They should be given the freedom to appoint and employ people at their locality, as this will eradicate the level of unemployment in the society”.
