UEFA have charged England after a fan shone a laser pointer at Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel’s face during their Euro 2020 semi-final victory on Wednesday night.

The incident happened as Harry Kane took a penalty during extra time to make it 2-1.

The game had ended 1-1 after regulation time at Wembley.

Mikkel Damsgaard gave the Danes the lead with a sublime free-kick, before Simon Kjaer diverted the ball past Schmeichel, to bring the game level.

During extra time, the referee awarded a controversial penalty, after Raheem Sterling tumbled in the area.

Schmeichel saved Kane’s initial effort, but the England striker slotted home the rebound, in what proved to be the decisive moment of the game.

England have also been charged for “disturbance caused by its supporters during the national anthem” and “lighting of fireworks by its supporters”.
