Some Nigerians have reacted to the departure of President Muhammadu Buhari to the United Kingdom on Monday for a global summit and medical checkup.
It was earlier reported that the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in a statement, stated that the President will be jetting out of the country on Monday to enable him participate in the Global Education Summit: Financing Global Partnership for Education (GPE) 2021-2025.
According to Adesina, the president is not expected to return immediately after the summit, stating that he would be undergoing his earlier scheduled medical checkup.
It was reported that the development is coming when the entire nation is enveloped with tension and anxiety as the two major secessionists in the country, Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho, are set to face trial.
While Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB is expected to resume trial at a Federal High Court in Abuja, his counterpart, the Yoruba Nation freedom fighter will be appearing before Court D’Appeal in Cotonou, Benin Republic, following his arrest last week Monday.
Some concerned Nigerians who reacted to the President’s move, accused him of deliberately setting the country “on fire” and moving to another country.
Others speculated that the President must have been invited by the British Government to explain Kanu’s rearrest and extradition to the country.
Below are some of the reactions gathered from the comment section of Femi Adesina’s statement on Facebook.
Patrick Oderigbok: “The President has set the country on fire and he is now running to another country”.
Ohunne Michael: “Continue to deceive yourself. Tell them the UK invited Buhari and his partner in crime from Kenya to come and explain their rules to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu kidnapping and smuggling to Nigeria”.
Olayemi Juwon: “You see dem crooks? Now dey carry two Igbo men to go and show Boris Johnson that they are not being marginalized at all in order to debunk Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s claims. Those ones too for sure go dey shake their empty heads in agreement”.
Cas Patrick: “This meeting is practically about Kanu ,Biafra and his Biafra course, the igbo men Onyeama and Nwajiuba he carries with him is the camouflage that igbos don’t want to be separated!
“But I pray these two igbo men will turn around, forget about their stomach and pocket, risk everything and Tell Boris Johnson the truth, shake and scatter the whole table”.
Bauchi Naija: “Brother Femi Adesina, Don’t tell me the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson invited PMB and his cohort from Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta to come and explain to him how they both conspired to kidnap Mazi Nnamdi Kanu back to Nigeria
“And here you are trying to cover it up with the caption that your boss, PMB, attends Global Education Summit. Ur mumu don do.
“And he wants to use the same opportunity to patronize the British doctors with our hard earned tax payers money in the name of a medical trip. It’s Well.
“Reno Omokri , Please help us and do the needful”.
