The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed teams with the lowest and highest goals, points, among other stats, following the conclusion of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group stage fixtures on Thursday night.
Sixteen teams continue their road towards the Holy Grail of African football that will be decided on 6 February 2022 after the AFCON group stage is concluded.
Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Cameroon, Comoros, Senegal, Cape Verde, Morocco, Malawi, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Mali, Tunisia, Guinea, Gambia, and Equatorial Guinea have all qualified for the AFCON Round of 16.
The Round of 16 fixtures will begin this weekend as Burkina Faso will clash with Gabon on Sunday, while Nigeria will tackle Tunisia.
However, in a post via its website on Friday, CAF revealed the following stats after the conclusion of the AFCON group stage:
Goals Scored: 68 (1.89 goals / match)
Top Goal Scorer: Vincent Abubakar (Cameroon) – 5 goals
Team with highest points: Nigeria – 9 points
Team with lowest points: Mauritania – 0 points
Team with highest goals scored: Cameroon – 7 goals
Team with lowest goals scored: Guinea Bissau, Mauritania – 0 goals
Team with highest goals conceded: Mauritania – 7 goals
Team with lowest goals conceded: Senegal – 0 goals.
Meanwhile, Algeria, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Sudan, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone and Mauritania have all been eliminated from the competition.
