Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Terver Akase, has called on the anti-graft agency to ensure that the Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, who was arrested on Monday is prosecuted.
Recalls that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arrested Idris over an alleged N80 billion fraud.
EFCC’s spokesman, Wilson Uwajaren, had confirmed Idris’s arrest in a statement he issued Monday night.
Reacting, on Tuesday, Akase, a former governorship aspirant in Benue, said the suspect should be made to face comeuppance.
He wrote, “The fight against corruption should not begin and terminate with the mere arrest of suspects. We want to see culprits face comeuppance.
“A situation where arrests are announced in the media, the suspects show no sign of penance and some are clandestinely recompensed has rather festered corruption in the last couple of years”.
