On Friday the Labour Party (LP) declared Peter Obi as the party’s 2023 presidential flagbearer.
Umar Ibrahim, the National Secretary, also stated that there’s no faction in the platform.
The scribe spoke on Friday in a chat with newsmen in Kaduna, NAN reports.
“Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi is the authentic presidential candidate of the party”, he said.
Ibrahim informed the public that Obi was duly elected at a convention organised by the leadership of National Chairman, Julius Abure.
He added that the May 30 primary in Asaba, the Delta State capital, was supervised and is recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ibrahim said those talking about factions are “foot soldiers of enemies of Nigeria and Nigerians”.
“The leadership and members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have recognised and endorsed the candidacy of Obi,” he stressed.
Ibrahim insists the LP is accepted by a majority of Nigerians who desire credible political leadership needed to salvage the country.
The party advised citizens not to be distracted but mobilise support for Obi “in his quest to liberate Nigeria from the shackles of godfatherism”.
