The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji yesterday attended the Aladinma Women Association, Ugba Ibeku 2022 August Conference held at Ugba Community Primary School Premises, Ugba, Umuahia North LGA of the state.
Speaking at the event, the Speaker congratulated the women on the occasion and thanked them for their immense contributions especially to the growth and development of their community.
He used the opportunity to remind the women of the need to enhance their performance and participation at elections and urged them to support credible candidates in the coming one.
While pledging to keep supporting the women, the Speaker promised to purchase a large quantity of the customized grand uniform for the women. He also promised to re-construct the faulty borehole he had earlier drilled for the community.
Earlier in her address, the President of Aladinma Women Association Ugba Ibeku, Lady Dr Mrs Ify JohnPedro said it was a great pleasure to welcome the Speaker and other invited guests to their special occasion.
She further enumerated that she was delighted that the women were able to gather in celebration and to highlight the remarkable progress they have made in less than two years of her administration.
Lady Mrs JohnPedro used the medium to plead for financial support to enable the women purchase a good number of their customized grand uniform for the increasing number of their members.
Finally, she prayed that Almighty God will grant the guests their heart desires in wealth and sound health.
The Speaker, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, thereafter officially unveiled the customized grand uniform for the women.
Dignitaries that graced the occasion, include a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Abia State, Chief Charles Ogbonnaya (Evuleogu) who also purchased some of the uniform for a number of the women, the Clerk/Permanent Secretary of Abia State House of Assembly, Sir John Pedro Irokansi, the Peoples Democratic Party flagbearer for Umuahia Central State Constituency in the forthcoming 2023 elections among others.
