The Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) has announced Friday 28th April 2023 for the conduct of another Local Government election in Abia State.
A release signed by the Chairman of the Commission Prof Mkpa Agu Mkpa, enjoined all Political party wishing to participate in the election to obtain their nomination forms from the commission four weeks from the date of this announcement.
The statement reads;

NOTICE OF ELECTION
In exercise of the powers conferred on her by Part II Third Schedule, Section 4, Sub-Section (a) and (b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigena (as amended) and pursuant to Chapter 9, Section 180 of Abia State of Nigeria Local Government Law, No 2 of 2006.
Notice is hereby given that the elections into Chairmanship and Councilorship positions in the 17 Local Government Areas and 293 Electoral Wards of Abia State is published as follows:
1. That the said elections will take place on Friday, 28th April, 2023 In the 293 Electoral Wards and 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State
2 That Political Parties and their candidates who wish to participate in the forthcoming elections should proceed to the Headquarters of Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, Ogurube Layout behind Central Bank of Nigeria, Umuahia for collection of Nomination Forms, not later than four weeks from the date of this publication.
3. Other details relating to the conduct of the said election will be communicated to all the parties concerned in due course.
