The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), the umbrella body of the Engineering Profession in Nigeria has confirmed its induction into its highest grade and the conferment of Fellowship on the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji MNSE.
The letter informing the Speaker of the Honour said the Council of NSE has elected him to the “Distinguished Fellowship Grade”.
The conferment which will hold in Abuja next month will see the Speaker’s status as a professional engineer with relevant years of post qualification experience upgraded from MNSE (Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers) to FNSE (Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers) an appellation he will begin to use from that day on.
This conferment of the prestigious Fellow on Mr Speaker is a loud testament to his quality of excellence, dedication, discipline and contributions to the Engineering Profession in the country.
Recall that on the day of his inauguration as Speaker on June 10, 2019, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji had said:
“In the course of my Membership of this Honourable House, I have had the privilege of working under 2 Lawyers as Speakers. Lawyers are known for doing justice to cases they are tasked with and it is my view that my 2 Lawyer predecessors did very well as Speakers. Now therefore, having tried lawyers, the mantle has fallen on an Engineer to lead this Honourable House and by training, Engineers are known for Designing and Building. Honourable colleagues, I will design and build for you all, a model House of legislative excellence and harmony that will set Abia State on an enviable pedestal. So help us God”.
It is therefore not a surprise that the Speaker immediately embarked on the remodeling of the Assembly complex turning it into a world class edifice with the touch of a truly professional engineer. The quality of the mini-stadiums he is building across Ikwuano/Umuahia also have his seal of engineering qualities on them. Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji is indeed a man any professional body he belongs to should be proud of.
It is another deserving recognition for the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia in particular and Abia in general.
