The Mexico head coach, Pedro Lopez Ramos heaped plaudits on the Super Falcons despite his team’s victory over the former African champions at the Revelation Cup.
On Thursday morning the North Americans eased to a 1-0 victory against the Super Falcons.
Kiana Palacios’ 85th-minute strike was the difference between both teams.
Ramos acknowledged that his team were worthy winners against Randy Waldrum’s charges but insisted the Nigerian ladies deserve respect.
“Nigeria is one of the best teams in Africa. If you see their players, they are in the best leagues in the world. We deserve the win, but you have to respect them,” the gaffer said after the game.
Mexico’s next game in the competition is against Costa Rica on Saturday.
The Super Falcons will battle with Colombia on the same day.
