On Monday Umar Ganduje-led Kano government has appealed to the All Progressives Congress, APC, members and loyalists to stay calm after the outcome of Saturday’s election.
Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, a protégé of ex-Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, won the tight-race gubernatorial poll.
Yusuf polled 1,019,602 votes to defeat the incumbent Deputy Governor, Nasiru Yusuf-Gawuna of the APC, who secured. 892,705 votes.
Reacting, the Kano authorities told the followers of the ruling party to ignore the provocations by the NNPP in the name of celebrations.
Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba assured of the commitment of Governor Ganduje to protect lives and property.
“The APC is analysing the election process and collation of results with a view to taking a decision at the appropriate time.
“We appeal to members to continue to be resolute, loyal and faithful to the party,” the official added.
