Presidential election tribunal adjourns hearing on Peter Obi’s case to May 17

The Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, sitting in Abuja has adjourned further proceedings on the petition the Labour Party, LP, candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, filed to challenge the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, till May 17

Obi is seeking the withdrawal of the Certificate of Return that was issued to the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

A five-man panel led by Justice Haruna Tsamanni adjourned the petition till next week Wednesday, following an agreement by all the parties in the case.

The parties had after a brief meeting on Wednesday, agreed to ask for an adjournment to enable them to file and exchange all the relevant legal processes.

Cited as Respondents in the matter, are; the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Tinubu, the Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima and the APC.

  1. This long postponement, having barely 8 days to the swearing-in day, hope the tribunal is not buying time!
