Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has described the Rule of Law as an indispensable bedrock for the sustenance of democracy, noting that governments must do everything to consistently support the development of the law.

The Governor noted that his administration embarked on the construction of the Office Complex to meet the demands of increased work load of the Lawyers in the Aba Office of the Ministry of Justice, just like their colleagues at the Headquarters in Umuahia.

He commended the Management of the Ministry led by the Honorable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uche Ihediwa, SAN for their tenacity in successfully supervising the construction of the office complex and charged them to ensure that it is put to good use.

The Governor also at the event, formally unveiled the revised Abia State Laws 2004 to 2022, with words of commendation for the State Law Reform Commission for a job well done, noting that the new compendium of the Laws of Abia State will make the administration of Justice easier for lawyers and the Judiciary, and especially for research purposes.
The Governor expressed delight that his administration is leaving a strong legacy for the administration of Justice in the State.

Speaking earlier, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Uche Ihediwa, SAN told the Governor that the office complex will go a long way to ensure that Lawyers in the Directorate of Public Prosecutions of the State Ministry of Justice, Aba annexe will work in a comfortable environment and thanked the Governor for approving the project.
He also said that the revised Laws of Abia State is the first time this is being done since 2004, noting that before now Laws of State, including those passed by the State House of Assembly were scattered in different documents. This effort makes it possible to locate all the Laws of the State in a single document of different volumes thereby making the administration of Justice easier.
