So many Former Commissioners came for screening with “Fake” certificates – Abia Speaker Chinedum Orji opens Up.
The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji has dismissed insinuations in some quarters that the members of the House usually extort money from nominees sent to the house for screening and confirmation by the executive arm of government.
The outgoing Speaker of the House of Assembly who made the clarification in his last media chat with select journalists(PUO reports inclusive) on Friday as the 10th Speaker of the House of Assembly said such insinuations were unfounded.
“Where is the evidence of such, those who are carrying that propaganda should show us evidence,was there any receipt for such, if you pay money now, you will be issued receipt”
“Did they also tell you that many of the commissioners came for screening with Fake certificates?”
When asked to mention their names, the Speaker however refused to make it public to safeguard their images.
Speaking about his experience as Speaker of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji said one thing he won’t do again is fighting battles that are not his own.
“The days of Chinedum Orji fighting anyone are over, if you want to do a fight, come out and do the fight, don’t hide under anybody”
I fought against the present Governor twice, in 2015 and 2019, who told you that those I fought him for didn’t move from behind to reconcile with him”
“When you were busy hobnobbing and sponsoring my opponent ,but still you want me to continue to fight your own enemy so that you can go behind and reconcile with him, I won’t do that again”
He affirmed that he won’t be part of any fight with anybody who didn’t directly offend him.
The Speaker said one of the things that makes him happy was that he didn’t disappoint the people of Umuahia Central Constituency and Abians as the 10th Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly.
“I am happy that I didn’t disgrace any of you throughout my time as speaker, I represented you people very well, I just wish that the next speaker of the House of Assembly will be better than me so that when next I go into the House of Assembly, I will see new structures” he concluded.
