Yesterday Governor Alex Otti executed an undemocratic onslaught against the legislative arm of the Abia State Government by disregarding the provisions of the 1999 Constitution(5th Alterations) as amended and section 8 of the Standing orders of the Abia State House of Assembly to install a non ranking member as the 11th Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly.
Rt Hon Emmanuel Emeruwa was a member of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) for 16years in Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu made him Executive Chairman of Aba South (January 2016- December 2018), he contested the Primaries of the PDP for Aba South State Constituency but was defeated, he ran to Labour Party and won the election no thanks to he ELUU P wave which shattered the political structure in the south East.
Emeruwa was not the first choice , infact the choice of Governor Alex Otti, as a matter of fact, he was hurriedly used for a test run of the undemocratic precedent that took place at the Abia State House of Assembly yesterday, after complaints by a member of the National Assembly who accused him of disregard them in all the appointments made ,only time will prove this assertion right.
Governor Alex Otti does not forgive especially when he knows that you were part and parcel of the immediate past administration in Abia, the story of how coffins filtered Aba with the inscription ” VOTE NGWA INTERESTS AND DIE” is still fresh in his mind, a pay back time is so near.
Already most loyalists of Governor Alex Otti are not happy how he will allow a known PDP man clothed in Labour Party apparel to emerge as Speaker.
