The rising insecurity in Abia State took another trend on Friday 23rd June as the Bursar of the Abia State University(Uturu) Elder Chuks Nwogwugwu escaped kidnaping attempt along the Okigwe/ ABSU road.
Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen who had trailed the Bursar’s Corola Vehicle from the Abia State University Campus opened firing on the car at the bad spot of the road and kidnapped the Bursar’s driver when they discovered he was not in the vehicle.
The Bursar was however lucky as he was attending to engagements in Umuahia, the Abia State Capital while waiting for his driver to pick him back to school.
The Okigwe – ABSU road is a 4 Kilometers road that has 8 armed security checkpoints and a military checkpoint before the Abia State University.
A student of the institution who spoke to PUO reports on condition of anonymity called on Governor Alex Otti to arrest the rising insecurity which has returned back to the road as students are now afraid of their lives.
