In a significant development, Amb. Desmond Akawor has officially resigned from his role as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Chairman in Rivers State. The resignation comes as Akawor accepts a nomination for a crucial Federal appointment as the Federal Commissioner representing Rivers State in the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
In a letter addressed to the Acting National Chairman of PDP, Amb. Umar Damagum, Akawor expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the party at the state level from 2020 to 2023. He emphasized his commitment to serving the nation in his new capacity, considering it a form of national service.
The former state chairman has promptly handed over his responsibilities to the Deputy Party Chairman, Hon. Aaron Chukwuemeka. Akawor remains dedicated to the ideals of the PDP and assures continued support for the party whenever called upon. He extends his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for considering him worthy of the federal appointment.
