The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday has summoned an emergency security meeting amid the heightened insecurity currently bedevilling the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
The former Rivers state governor disclosed this while speaking at an event, where he assured FCT residents of their safety.
Wike said the government was working to support security agents with all that they need to tackle insecurity.
Among those in attendance are heads of security agencies in the FCT, top officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), council chairmen as well as traditional rulers.
Wike warned the area council chairmen to be alive to their responsibility at the local level.
In the past few weeks, bandits have ravaged some parts of the FCT, abducting residents from their homes.
The incidents which have created tension became heightened when some residents, including a 13-year-old Secondary School student, were killed over failure to meet the deadline for a ransom payment.
