Reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is withholding match bonuses and allowances owed to the Super Eagles at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast have been refuted by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
There have been rumors floating about lately that the CBN is holding up match bonuses and allowance payments because of Jose Peseiro’s team.
However, the NFF said that it has not encountered any delays from the CBN in a statement released on Tuesday by its General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi.
“It is unfair for anyone to concoct lies against the institution for whatever reasons,” NFF’s statement partly reads.
“We have not experienced any delays or complication of processes at the CBN this time, and we give kudos to them for their diligence and great sense of duty.”
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will face Angola in the quarter-final clash on Friday after beating Cameroon in the round of 16.
