Former Arsenal player Mikael Silvestre has hinted that he is not convinced the Super Eagles are an improvement over Gabriel Jesus and is skeptical about the possibility of acquiring Victor Osimhen from Napoli.
The demand that Arsenal sign a new number nine has grown as a result of Jesus’ poor goal-scoring performance this season at the club.
Osimhen and Ivan Toney of Brentford have been connected to the Premier League North London team.
Silvestre believes Osimhen doesn’t stray as far as Jesus does, though.
“Osimhen, also a top player. Maybe a little bit more pragmatic in front of goal than Gabriel Jesus. I don’t think he’d necessarily be an upgrade,” Silvestre said as quoted by The Sun.
“He is a different type of player [than Jesus]. Osimhen doesn’t drift as wide as Jesus.”
“You always want your No.9 to score as many goals as possible but he’s [Jesus] contributing to Arsenal’s attack in different ways.”
