The winner of the rerun House of Representatives election for the Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, which took place last Saturday, is Daniel Asama, the candidate of the Labour Party, LP.
Asama defeated his nearest opponent, Mohammed Gwani of the Peoples Redemption Party, who received 61,670 votes, with 66,422 votes, according to Returning Officer Prof. James Garba’s declaration of the results.
In a related move, Prince Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang, the Action Democratic Party’s candidate, has been proclaimed the victor of the Plateau North senate rerun election.
Returning Officer Prof. Nestor Chagok declared the results of the senatorial rerun election early on Monday. He said that Prince Dachungyang of the ADP received 122,442 votes, more than his nearest competitor, Yakub Muhammad Safiu of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), who received 53,980 votes.
Barr. Gyang Zi of the LP received 33,243 votes, while Christopher Musa Giwa of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, received 39,132 votes.
Recalls that the PDP’s Musa Agah and Sen. Simon Mwadkon’s election was canceled by the Court of Appeal in Abuja late last year, and an additional election was mandated within ninety days.
Additionally, INEC removed the PDP from the vote paper citing the previously cited ruling.
