The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has praised SP Rilwan Kasumu and his team for turning down an N4 million bribe while looking into a case of drug selling and illegal ammunition possession. SP Kasumu is in charge of the police tactical team attached to Area K, Marogbo, Lagos State Command.

This was disclosed by Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a post on his official X Twitter.

On February 6, 2024, the team apprehended Esther Newman Obiekezie, also known as Candy, of No. 6, Mojirade Street, Ilogbo Lagos, at her base where she sells illegal substances known as ice. They also found a significant amount of the material along with some live ammunition for AK-47s..

The inquiry began when Akete Esther and Oke Okebalam of Ajamgbadi, Lagos, visited the Ijanikin station to request the release of Esther, a drug dealer, and made an offer of N4 million.

Additionally, they begged the authorities to cease interfering with the illegal drug trade.

The policeman who disapproved of the offer took the money, put it on exhibit, and took the two into custody for additional inquiry and legal action.

The IGP reaffirmed the Force’s dedication to using all resources and implementing expert anti-crime tactics to combat all types of criminal activity in Nigeria.
